It's May, 2016

Welcome to May,

It's started off really good. Last weekend I did the Indiana Comic con for the first time. I've done their show in Tampa twice now and I have to say I really like how they put on a comic con. Crowds at both are excited and nice. And they were gracious enough to buy some comics and prints from yours truly.

In other news, The Adventures of Carl is still slated to be launched at the Motor City Comic Con. Come on out and get your copy. I've ended the pre order of the book.

It's going to be a busy several weeks, I hope to see some of you at a convention local to you.

until then take care,
Brett

The Adventures of Carl Pre-order is now live

Hello Everyone,

Well it's here. The Adventures of Carl collection that has everything Carl from the beginning. And that's what I called it, "From the Beginning". It has all the original stories, Mini comic and full comic. As well as a bonus of Boomtown Scabs #1 where the idea of Carl was born.

Carl came from a necessity for John and I to have more than 1 comic on the table at our first show. I looked at John and said, Let's do a Carl Comic. His first response was "who?" And I pointed out the one panel in Scabs 1 that had a rabbit names Carl. While Carl was a white bunny then, we turned him into the loveable rabbit you all know to this day.

If you have all the original Carl comics, this does not have anything new for you except if you never got Scabs #1.

But with that said, I hope everyone pre-orders it and I will have 3 options. They are as follows:

Option 1
$15.00 for the trade and no shipping as you can pick it up at a show or appearance I will be at. this starts with the Motor City Comic Con. See www.brettpinson.com for my schedule of events.

Option 2
$15.00 plus the flat rate of $10 for shipping. The shipping charge is no matter how many you order.

Option 3
$30 plus the flate rate of $10 for shipping, no matter how many, and includes a sketch by your's truly.

I'm still working on Scabs 5 and will have that available this year, unfortunately not as soon as I hoped but I blame only me. Watch this and my website, www.brettpinson.com for updates and pre order options.

Until next time

Your Pal,

Brett

Happy October

Happy October everyone.

I've been going through some things the last few months. Yes, Depression. It's an ugly word, but something i'm not afraid of to say. My depression i'm sure is always there, but most of the time I have it under control. I don't use meds and if I can I won't. There are many things that trigger it in me, and there are unknowns that cause it to rear its head.

About a month ago I started walking everyday. In an effort to force my self to get up and get out, I go for these walks. It's been very helpful to put on my headphones, listen to some podcasts and walk. During theses times I talk to myself in my head. Some conversations are good, some are ok and some are what i've been fighting against these last few months. I'm attacking that inner part of me that puts me down, makes me feel like i'm not good at anything and that I should just quit. I don't want to quit.

Many people go through depression, and I don't have the answers for them but I know for me I have to face it. I have to tell it that it doesn't control me and that I can do anything I put my mind to. For those that know me in the real world, all I need is for you to be my friend. Don't be different with me, be the same as we always have been. If we pick on each other, keep that going. If when we see we hug, definitely do that. Hugs are great.

Today I'm working on some commissions I should have done, and they will be done in the next week. I'm also going to get back to work on books. I know i've said that before, but my goal is to have scabs 5 done by the end of the year for a release next year with the trade. Carl will be done too. Then some new things.

I want to thank all those that have shown me support recently, you all have no idea how much it has meant to me to hear from everyone.

Until next time, be well and take care.

Brett
This was a post i did on my website on 9-24-15. As far as I'm concerned those involved have deleted the posts, and I have been left alone.

9-24-15

This past weekend I was in artist alley at the wonderful Cincinnati Comic Expo. An Artist I will not name accused me of tracing my art work, using promotional material. I have not and do not trace my art work. I use reference and hand draw my art. This person has put out a post on this weekend and has said how sickened she was I was allowed to exhibit, as well as 4 other people she claims are tracers. Each piece i sell at shows I have worked on. Few are from when John and I first started doing comics before he passed away. Those that he drew the characters for I did the colors and layouts. After we had been hit by a Drunk Driver and he passed away I started teaching myself to draw, with the help of a couple friends who are way better artists than me.

This person, and her "friends" on a group on facebook have stated they have emailed Disney, Warner brothers and other shows saying I'm a tracer and are trying to not only get me in legal trouble but also banned from Comic cons.

How I found out? it started with an email, pretending to be from someone of authority threatening me if i ever did a show in Florida again with legal action. Then, in the same style of wording she posted in this group and others, most who were not at the show chimed in. I have copies of this thread. Some of the posts got very nasty and unwarranted and dealt not with me as an artist but what they decide I was and then entire thread is slanderous.

My only interaction with this person was when she took a photo of my booth. Despite what she says, i nicely asked if she had taked a photo and she said she had so I asked her to please delete as I dont allow them. In her blog post about the whole situation she created, she mentions my signs saying no pictures. This is the first show I ever put them up as many of my artist friends know, too many people would rather take a photo of the art and not buy it.

I"m going to close with this. Those that attack me online, I have many friends who know I do not steal art. Which is what she is saying by calling me a tracer. I'm publicly stating this. If you don't like me, like my art or don't agree with fan art you need to ignore it and concentrate on your own life. If you think someone has stolen art then report it to the person whose art it is. It is not your place to demand someone be removed from a show. Another point, Yes I'm a nice guy and my Mom gives hugs and that should not be something you should bad mouth online. Maybe you need a hug, if so come on by. Also, I call it my world tour as its about the world I'm in. Not about being in other countries. I have been doing this a long time, longer than this other person. I have published and worked on multiple comics and will continue to do so. The fan art I have created and sell is temporary as I have always stated to those that know me, I would prefer to make a living off of my comics.

Thats it, I'm done ranting. If you don't like me or the work I do, leave me alone and go on with your own lives.

What's New in July 2015

Hey everyone, been a while. Just a quick update on what's going on. It's been a busy time since the Motor City con. I was in Denver and Phoenix for conventions right after, both were awesome. Denver was my best show ever. That led to June which was busy with shows and personal travel. And now it's mid July and I'm getting ready for more shows and working on new prints and comics. I hope to have more info on the comics soon but until then come find me at a future show. Check out www. Brettpinson.com for all my upcoming shows.

Until then, take care and be well.
